The first incident occurred at the intersection of Route 110 and Conklin Avenue, East in Farmingdale at approximately 10:45 p.m.

Fredy Leonel Maldonado, 42, of West Babylon, was crossing Route 110 from east to west at the intersection of Conklin Avenue when he was struck by a southbound 2017 Dodge RAM 1500, Suffolk County Police said. 

The driver of the Dodge, a 29-year-old North Massapequa man, called 911 and attempted to render first aid to Maldonado, according to police.

Maldonado was transported via ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

The second fatal crash happened on Route 112 in Medford at about 10:50 p.m. on Monday.

Jorge Lopez Paucar, 58, of Medford, was crossing Route 112, north of Jamaica Avenue, when he was struck by a 2005 Ford Focus at 10:50 p.m. 

Lopez Paucar was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, a 59-year-old Medford man, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
